Gateway Md2614u Wont Run On Ac

If the laptop runs fine off the battery but not off the AC adapter, then your problem is most likely either the adapter itself or the motherboard. The adapter is a much cheaper option (and easier to replace) so a good first step is to try a new adapter and see if that fixes the problem.
If it still won't power on, you may have a bad motherboard, in which case it might be cheaper to get a new laptop than have the motherboard repaired or replaced.
