Why Is On/off Switch Light Orange In Color Sometimes?

When I open the lid the light on the on/off switch is flashing orange slowly. Never saw an orange light before. Is this an indication of a physical failure of the Power Jack inside the computer?

The pin in the center of the power jack in the computer was loose. Replacing the DC-power jack cable cured the problem. Part number 301007400, cost $3.45 free shipping. Easy repair, no soldering. Used disassembly instructions for Acer Aspire One D250, Same as Gateway LT2005u or KAV60

This could indicate several possibilities, including, but not limited to, a physical failure. You do not indicate if you are plugged in to any type of surge protector or UPS, but if you are, rest those (unplug them, power them off, wait 30 seconds, plug back in and turn back on; then try your computer). If that does not clear the issue, power your laptop down, unplug the plug from the back of the laptop, remove the battery, 2 minutes, put battery back in, plug in power and check. If that still does not work, try disconnecting power, remove batter, and disconnect everything from the laptop except the CPU and MEM, wait 5 minutes, reconnect everything and check. If it STILL does not correct, then, yes, there is likely a power supply or other issue.
