Total Ascent Shown As Zero
My Vista Cx GPS is showing Total Ascent and Maximum Altitude as zero and these values never change. The logged gpx file stored on micro card has a complete record of longitude, latitude, altitude and time values.
These values used to update OK until I tried navigating from a saved track, but I cannot find out how to make these values work again - I've tried resetting all data and setting defaults without success.

I'm guessing you may have not used the Hard Reset method. Here's how:
Hard Reset:
With the unit turned off, press and hold the follow buttons: PAGE + Enter on the click stick. Then press and release the POWER. The unit will power up asking if you want to release all user data. Select yes, and the unit will be reset. After the master reset, place your unit outside, so that it has a clear view of the sky for 25 to 30 minutes for the unit to acquire new almanac data.
Also, in case you didn't know, here's instructions (page 60) on resetting to defaults. I know you said you tried already, but maybe not this method.
I did find that you're not the only Garmin customer having this situation, but no definitive answer/fix has been provided.
