How To Turn On And Regarding Battery

Hello.  I bought a garmin fishfinder 140 and it won't turn on.  I pulled it out of the box, read the manual and pushed the power button but nothing happened.  I checked for batteries but don't see where they would go.  Please advise me on how to turn it on and where the batteries go as I'm unable to figure this out on my own.  Thanks so much
