Display On Door Goes Blank
I have a Frigidaire FFU21F5HWB upright freezer, Mfg 7-08. My issue is this: The display on the door goes blank on a regular basis. Most times the unit cntinues to cool, but sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes the interior light works properly, sometimes it doesn't. I watch closely for the display to be illuminated, usually shows the temp setting at 5, but when it goes blank, or when any of the other symptoms show up, I usually unplug the unit for 10 to 15 seconds, plug it back in and everything is back to normal, till it happens again. I am suspecting that it might be a bad logic or maybe it's called a control board. Can you confirm my suspicions? and if it is a board that needs to be replaced, can a homeowner do this task? Any additional advise you can give me would be appreciated. Thank you.

From what you are describing it sounds like the freezer could possibly be experiencing a communication error from the main control board or wiring failure. If I was in your position, I will personally recommend consulting a professional for an accurate diagnosis and to assist with the repair(s). Generally, qualified technician often perform complicated part replacements such as this due to liability and safety reasons.
