Fridge Is Malfunctioning In The Cold

Our fridge is not working at all. A Sears tech came and said that because it is in our unheated garage it is too cold for the Fridge to work properly. Is that a case or is something else wrong?

I understand you are having trouble with your refrigerator not working properly while stored in your garage. Yes, this can absolutely affect the performance of your refrigerator. Top mount refrigerators are designed to work in ambient temperature between 55 and 110 degrees. Temps between 34 and 55, the freezer will not keep temperature and a low ambient kit is needed. There is a kit for refrigerators installed in applications where the temperature can go as low as 34 F and still maintain good freezer temperatures. The kit part number is 5303918301 and it contains a heater that mounts in the control box and an instruction sheet advising how to install the heater for technicians.
