Dryer Heating Element
Dryer heating element gets to hot and stays on even when the dryer is shut off.Gets hot enough that it glows on the wall behind it.We unplugged it for safety reasons till ewe figure out what is wrong.Thoughtr it might be the high temp thermostat buy saw a video that says if those short out the heating element won't work at all.Thanks in advance for your help.

Good afternoon! From what you have described it sounds as if the heating element is not properly connected to the ground source thus always staying on. The heating element will most likely need to be replaced which is not a do-it-yourself job. At that point I would contact the manufacturer or a local repair shop.

This is due to a bad element its dangerous. Unplug your dryer. Order a new element housing its one piece... the elements are located inside a coffee can looking metal housing located at the bottom right side of the dryer in the back. Make sure the dryer is Unplugged open the back of the housing and look inside it with a flashlight you will see three coils and little porcelin insulators holding the coils in place. If the insulators are brokrn you will need a new heating element its sold as one piece so you cant get parts for it. Order one online or look it up and get the price for it its around 100dollars I called a local parts store and ended up talking their price down to 120 and went and picked it up. They wanted 200 for it. Replace the whole piece. If any of the coils are touching the housing its ruined. Mine had a broken porcelin insulator causing the electrified element to go to ground. The heater housing may glow red hot and you may want to replace the thermal sensors to avoid taking it apart again! Its a hassle but you can do it all in a few hours.
