Problems With My Fad704tdp

My FAD704TDP Humidifier is 2 years old and has worked fine until this spring/summer. The unit is in my basement where it is 65 deg. F. The front coils are freezing up on the unit with 1inch thick ice. The fan is working fine, there is proper air flow through the unit, its sitting in the middle of the room not blocked, and the front grill is clean and so is the screen which I check monthly. Do I have a refridgerent issue or is the unit just a throw away model like the reveiws said it was. I had faith in electrolux is why I purchased it but I am starting to question that now. Please advise. Thank you Paul Spagnuolo

Hello ludwig89 – Based on the symptoms you are describing it sounds like the unit is experiencing a low charge or have a sealed system leak, which usually results in an uneven frost pattern. The unit might possibly be repairable if the frost is only on part of the evaporator coil, and not the entire evaporator. Because it is a smaller appliance, repairs are often more costly than the actual unit replacement. You may want to check and see if your dehumidifier is still under warranty and if so, reach out to the manufacturer to determine the exact warranty coverage and repairs (if any are available
