Fuel Pump Proablem

I have a 2002 Ford Explorer Sport. This year I have been plagued with Fuel pump problems. In the past 7 months, I've had to replace four of them with new Motorcraft pumps under warranty, from a local Ford dealer. My question, is this: Is it possible that something in the car is causing these fuel pumps to fail, or is Ford getting a lot of bad fuel pumps? Usually, when they fail, it's relatively warm outside (80s to 100 degrees). Sometimes after letting the vehicle sit for a couple of hours, I would go back to it, rock it several times, and it would start. Eventually, no matter what I did, the vehicle wouldn't start any longer. I know it's not the fuel pump relay. Now, I'm having the same problem again!
