I just posted an answer to what may be your answer. The Ford Escort SE has the pcv valve located in the hose leading from the carburetor to the intake point. The hose is in two parts, which pop apart at the bulbous portion in the middle of the hose. You must heat the bulbous portion in boiled water for about two minutes to soften the rubber, then grip the end of the pcv valve with long nose pliers, at which point you may pull the valve, and pop it out. Insert the new valve while the rubber is still hot.
