Tailligthts Won't Go Off

i have a 1997 ford f150 4x4 and the brakes lights won't go off and i can't find out why please help

There is a brake light switch under the dash, at the top of the brake pedal rod. That switch completes a circuit when you step on the brake, which turns the brake lights on. If it's defective or out of adjustment, your lights will stay on all the time.

The switch should be attached to the brake rod with a bracket. If you bend that bracket down a little, the brake lights may go off. If adjusting the switch doesn't work, then you switch is bad. It's easy to replace and it should be available at your local auto parts store.
