Heater Hose Removal

I HAVE PURCHASED THE "SPECIAL" TOOL TO REMOVE THE HOSES BUT THERE IS NO EXPLAINATION ON HOW TO USE IT. IS THERE A PROCEDURE I NEED TO USE THERE SEEMS TO BE A CLIP OF SOME KIND?
