I live in California and I've just recently canceled my auto and home insurance with Farmers. You will need to fax (18665301722) or email them a "Written Letter" in order to successfully cancel your policy/policies. They also ask that you sent them "Proof" of new insurance coverage. (I think it's so they know how much you're paying to the new company and try to give you a better "discount" later on in the fure.) Below is the letter that I've faxed them. I hope this helps! =)
Dear Cancellation Department,
I am sending you this written notice to request cancellation of my insurance policy effective DATE HERE. As requested I’ve attached proof of new coverage and it’s effective date of DATE HERE. I would appreciate you sending me written confirmation as soon as possible when cancellation has been put into effect. Please refund the unused portion of my policy premium, and cease charging my bank account for payments of monthly premium.
Thanks you for your prompt action on this matter.
Sincerely,
YOUR NAME HERE.
