Facbook Asked For A 'mobile Number Or A Debit/credit Card Number'

Facbook asked  for a "mobile number or a debit/credit card number" to verify my account when I tried to post something... there doesn't seem to be a way to confirm ON facebook whether this is legit... no way to ask questions in their "Help Centre"....

Many Facebook users/members are furious they are being asked for personal information, especially financial information, like credit card and mobile phone information. Mobile phones can receive charges in place of a credit card. Facebook has no right to ask us for this information. It is an invasion of privacy and many people are so frustrated, they are leaving Facebook, because they cannot post to groups or access games without getting this pop-up asking them for credit card or mobile phone info. The pop-up blocks them unless they give out this information, which they refuse to do. It is my understanding that Facebook is asking for this information only from members who use a mobile phone device, such as an I-Pad for Facebook. Not sure if they plan to charge them for it, but it sure sounds that way. At any rate, Facebook owes it's users an explanation. I have noticed posts on the Facebook help area, where people are asking about this. Doesn't seem to get resolved and no one from Facebook responds. Aside from the useless help question forum, where other Facebook users respond, there is no way to contact Facebook directly to make inquiry or complaints about this, or where you might actually get a response from Facebook about this. Guess Facebook didn't learn anything before when people were mad about their personal information being shared with outside 3rd parties. This is going even further than that and is more invasive. Someone started a group on Facebook called "No to Facebook request for credit card and mobile phone" You might want to check it out.

I thought i was the only one having these problems, but facebook works find. But when ever i try to go to group search and find something i like and join that group i try to post a comment and no mattar what i do i always get this. Please verify your account.
Your account must be verified before you can take this action. Please verify your account by adding your mobile phone or credit card. This is really pissing me off!!! And every one that is having this problem needs to file a complaint about it. Some one needs to get the word out that Facebook will loose its menbers if they won't fix it NOW!!!!!!

I think they are doing it deliberately.  After all, if you've given them your credit card info, and they now have it on file, it's way more tempting and easier to buy things like credits.

I think Zuckerman and his staff really have a contempt for the average user and thinks we're all fools.

I for one, will NOT be going to his self congradulations film coming out.

Facebook is trying to get users credit card or cell phone numbers to charge them credits for 3rd party applications and games. A lot of people don't realize that their cell phone can be charged, just like a credit card.

I found a group on Facebook that addresses this issue, which is a privacy concern. It's called "NO TO FACEBOOK REQUEST FOR CREDIT CARD OR MOBILE PHONE INFORMATION". There are all kinds of information in this group that you may find helpful.
