How I Can Get Back Into My Facebook Account When It Says My Email Is Invalid

I have emailed facebook and they tell me my email address isn't associated with an account and yet friends are confirming my requests to be friends and I am on my brothers facebook page etc. I can't get anyone to tell me how I can get back in and now I appear to have a new account, which I don't want. I want to get back into my account with my photos and friends.
