Melting Wires In Handle
The wires attached to the power switch are melting into the handle. My wife burned her finger and I see that if the wire continuted to melt through she could be electrocuted. I find it hard to beleive UL approved this vacuum. Is there a recall for this problem? Please send infomation to email.

We have the same problem with the handle/switch assembly really getting hot. We have not opened it up to examine the wiring, but we figure it's inadequate wiring or a fragile switch. Are there others out there with this dangerous problem?

Yes, you aren't alone in this! It has to do with poor wiring design in the handles. It melts the connectors and that melts the plastic on the handle.
Fortunately, if you have a soldering iron, it's a ten-minute fix at most.
The wiring is crap.
Open and remove the handle. It probably requires a t-20 torque screwdriver (star head). You'll see some very scorched connectors. You'll need to pry those off, and solder the wires directly to the switch instead. If you can't solder, take it to an electronics or other repair shop or bribe a friend that does electronics.
