Score Changes During Playoffs Late

OK I doubt if you can help me - God knows ESPN is useless for anything; I run a FFL league and we are in the playoffs.First week of the playoffs we had our normal two teams with a bye and two games to determine who goes to semi-finals.St Louis lost to another team so they were eliminated and ESPN advanced the other team to the semi-finals. Later it was checked and ESPN changed the scores (after the next week of playoffs had started) and St Louis ended up winning but was NOT posted as advancing.Problem gets worse when St Louis scores the highest of ANY team in the winners bracket in week #2 of the playoffs meaning no matter WHO St Louis would of played had they been correctly advanced they would of won their match up moving on to the finals. Now one would normally say - "Well it's just a game so who cares - However we pay out big money to both the winner and runner up. SO St Louis is looking at a minimum of $500 in winnings that they SHOULD of won had ESPN posted the scores correctly (and in a timely manner)Player has a relative who said he'd be happy to sue me (as league admin) and ALSO tack on ESPN since they provide the stats and 'correct' scoring. I've check and they can do this and it would be legal to do the suit in my home county and since ESPN would be listed as a co-defendant they would HAVE to send someone here. From the looks of this web site it looks like you have nothing to do with ESPN so I doubt you care about their legal issues. LOL. But if you have any contact there you might have them contact me - Since the Championship starts TONIGHT - TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE.SO what would be your answer of how this play-off issue should be handled.

All teams continue to compete throughout the playoffs. The two Divisional Champions and two wild card teams (teams with the next best overall records) compete for the League Championship. The wild card teams may come from either division and are selected by their records, with ties resolved according to the tiebreaker categories below. The top-ranked division champion plays the lowest-ranked wild card team i.e. the first place team faces the fourth place team while the second place team faces the third place team.

The remaining teams compete in the consolation bracket. Though out of the running for the championship, this consolation bracket is still competitive since no one wants to finish in last place!

PLAYOFF SEEDING AND TIEBREAKERS (Standard Leagues)

Standard League Playoffs: Playoff Seeding and Tie-Breakers
In the event that two or more teams have identical won-loss records at the conclusion of the Fantasy Football regular season, the following tiebreaking system is employed.

  1. Overall points-for
  2. Head-to-Head record
  3. Division record
  4. Overall points-against
  5. Coin Flip

NOTE: The Overall record is based on winning percentage. Therefore, a team that is 8-5-0 and a team that is 7-4-2 have the same winning percentage, and thus would be considered tied for overall record.

Standard League Playoffs: Tiebreaker for Playoff Games
In the event that two teams have the same number of points at the conclusion of their two-week playoff game, the tiebreaker for playoff games is each team's original seeding in the playoffs. In short, the team with the higher seed wins.

Playoff Schedule
Winner's Bracket: In the first round of the playoffs, the division winner with the best win-loss record plays the wild-card team with the worst win-loss record; the other division winner plays the wild-card team with the better win-loss record. In the second round, the winners of the first-round games (see table below) compete for the league championship. Each round of the playoffs spans a two-week period. The 5th through 10th-seeded teams in each league compete in the consolation bracket.
