Hi, this is Cheri Torres with DISH Network customer service. I wanted to see if I could help you with getting this issue you’re having with your remote resolved. I have some instructions that I will list here in order for you to get your remote addressed to your receiver. This will allow you to change channels, bring up DISH menus etc. If you are trying to get your DISH remote to also control your TV functions such as powering the TV on/off, changing volume level, and bring up TV menus you will need to provide a little bit more information. If this is something you are trying to do I would need the brand name of the TV your using and also the model number of the DISH remote. The remote model number should be on the back of the remote at the top, usually a two digit number with a decimal point. Steps for addressing your remote to your DISH Network receiver box.

Go to System Info scree. In order to get into your system info screen you can either press the system info button on the front of the DISH receiver box, or you can press the power button once and then the up arrow button once on the front of the receiver box. If both of these options are not working you can also open the little door on the left side of your DISH box and pull out your smart card. You do no need to reinsert your smart card until you have addressed your remote completely.
Once you are in the system info screen you should see primary remote address (TV1) and secondary remote address (TV2).
Hold down the SAT button until all mode lights light up.
Enter a number between 1 and 15 using the numeric keypad on the remote.(Make sure to change the remote address to a different number then what is listed in the white box).
Press the pound (#) button
Once the SAT button blinks three times, press record three times. Note: If successful the number selected in step 3 will appear in the System Info screen under Remote Address.
