Polisher Stalls When Moved
Current Answers
Answer #1: Posted by khanjee on August 3rd, 2023 5:20 PM
Turn on the polisher and see the backing plate doesn't turn. Now place the pad onto a flat surface and make sure the pad is flat on the surface. Use light pressure to start with, maybe 2kg to 3kg. You will see the backing plate turns at more than 5 times per minute.
If you don't have the pad flat it will not turn or will turn very slowly.
Please Accept my answer by providing you with the best possible solution. Would be more glade.

1. Power Supply: Ensure that the polisher is properly connected to a power source. Make sure the power cord is securely plugged into a functioning outlet and that there are no loose connections.
2. Carbon Brushes: The carbon brushes in the motor of the polisher might be worn out or damaged. These brushes conduct electricity and provide power to the motor. If they are worn, they might not make proper contact and cause stalling. Check the user manual or manufacturer's website for instructions on how to replace the carbon brushes, or consider reaching out to Dewalt customer support for guidance.
3. Overheating: If you have been using the polisher for an extended period or if it's been exposed to high temperatures, it might overheat and automatically shut down to protect the motor. Allow it to cool down sufficiently, and try using it again. If it continues to stall after cooling down, there might be another underlying issue.
4. Speed Adjustment: Ensure that the speed dial on the polisher is set to an appropriate level for the task you're performing. If the speed is too low, it can cause the machine to stall. Adjust the speed to a higher level and see if it makes a difference.
If none of these troubleshooting steps resolve the issue, it's best to contact Dewalt customer support or consult a professional technician for further assistance. They will have the expertise to diagnose and fix any potential motor or internal component problems.

The pad is not properly attached. The pad should be attached tightly to the polisher. If the pad is not attached properly, it can come loose when the polisher is moved, which can cause it to stall.
The pad is clogged. The pad can become clogged with polish or dirt, which can prevent it from rotating freely. If the pad is clogged, it will need to be cleaned or replaced.
The bearings are worn out. The bearings in the polisher can wear out over time, which can cause the polisher to stall. If the bearings are worn out, they will need to be replaced.
The motor is faulty. The motor in the polisher can fail, which can cause the polisher to stall. If the motor is faulty, it will need to be replaced.
To fix the stalling problem, you will need to diagnose the cause of the issue. If you are not comfortable doing this yourself, you can call a qualified Dewalt repair technician for assistance.
Here are some steps you can take to diagnose the problem:
Check the pad attachment. Make sure that the pad is properly attached to the polisher. If the pad is not attached properly, tighten it until it is secure.
Clean the pad. If the pad is clogged, clean it with a mild detergent and water. You can also use a wire brush to remove any stubborn debris.
Check the bearings. If the bearings are worn out, they will need to be replaced. You can usually hear a whirring or grinding sound if the bearings are worn out.
Check the motor. If the motor is faulty, it will need to be replaced. You can usually hear a buzzing or humming sound if the motor is faulty.
If you have tried all of the above and the polisher is still stalling, then you will need to contact Dewalt customer support for assistance.
Here are some tips to help prevent this problem from happening again:
Always use the correct pad for the job. Using the wrong pad can put unnecessary stress on the polisher and can cause it to stall.
Clean the pad regularly. A dirty pad can clog the bearings and cause the polisher to stall.
Inspect the polisher regularly. Inspect the polisher for any signs of wear or damage. If you notice any problems, have them repaired or replaced immediately.
Store the polisher properly. When you are not using the polisher, store it in a cool, dry place. This will help to prevent the bearings from corroding.
