I Want To Stop Computer From Rebooting For Updates Without My Consent.

Sometimes, I am working late at night on my computer, when all of a sudden all of my applications close and the computer immediately restarts itself without warning or confirmation. After it finishes restarting, it tells me that there was an automatic shutdown for updates. Why is it so user-unfriendly that the computer would shut itself off without even asking? Is there a setting in Windows that I can toggle to at the very least ask for confirmation?

In order to turn on and off Automatic Updates manually, follow these steps:

  2. In the left pane, click Change settings.
  3. Select the option that you want.
  4. Under Recommended updates, select "notifying me about updates check box", and then click OK.
