Screen Will Not Come On

I have had this inspiron one 19 for a little while now and the screen was working just fine not issues at all. I shut the computer down one night got up the following morning and when I turn the computer on you can hear that the computer goes to the log-in page but the screen will not come on. when I got to looking at the computer I noticed that the light just above the power button will blink every second with a defined pattern. I don't know much about computer tech at all but I was wondering if anyone can tell me what I need to do to fix this problem. I understand that calling a professional would be the smartest thing but in my case the closest computer tech shop is about 50 miles from me. I just want to know if I can order a part for it and the problem be fix or not the simple way. thank you.
