Why Does My Monitor Go Blank After 3 Seconds Of Turning It On

This is typically a sign of a defective power supply in the monitor or a bad video card.
If you can try a different monitor do that. Borrow one if you must. Also try this one on another PC or laptop. That will tell you what is actually defective.
Your next option is to take the unit to a tech and have it looked at. Some retailers will check things for free so ask around.
