If you have not installed 3rd party firmware try a reset.
To reset the router, locate the reset button (hole) on the rear panel of the unit. With the router powered on, use a paperclip to hold the button down for 10 seconds. Release the button and the router will go through its reboot process. Wait about 30 seconds to access the router. The default IP address is 192.168.0.1. When logging in, the username is admin and leave the password box empty.
If after the reset things are still "christmas treeing" then you more than likely have a defective router. Due to the costs involved you'll be better off just purchasing a new one. It may be of benefit to take it to the retailer you got it from and see if there is any warranty. Perhaps they can check it out for you at the same time to see if there is anything we missed.
