Compaq Presario Cq70 Is Off And Will Not Turn On

PC has been continually hooked up to AC adapter as I use it as a desktop machine.It had been in sleep mode for 2 days. So I tried to start it up by pressing the ON under the screen.. The PC started to warm up and then it SHUT DOWN. The button I pressed on does not work at all.This has happened to me before...I got out of it by.Disconnecting the AC adapter and then waiting several days for my battery to lose power, enough power so that the power light flashes in the bottom left of the keyboard. I still may have to wait another day or I may have pulled the battery out for 10 minutes and then put it back in and hit the ON button under the screen (I cannot remember which or if it was a combination of several keys and the ON button.. Anyways, it did fire up again and I knew the battery was weak so plugged in the adapter to use the machine. Which works fine.. I did not get an owners manual with this machine....it was used.I am presently at the stage where the power light flashes 3 times. I am not getting any response for it to turn on .I am thinking of trying the removal of the battery for awhile and then reinstalling it after say 30 minutes.I don't know how to get around this.Windows Vista O.S.This problem mainly started after I was introduced to the Function Button. All hell broke loose from that point on.I am normally using a remote keyboard which does not have a Function key.Get me started because I have another problem with this machine..

It will also allow you to find a user guide and troubleshooting help. As to the on/off problem. Ironically I have a similar model with me at the moment and I am not saying you have the same problem, but my power button is broken and requires a new panel. However dismantling and using a flat blade screwdriver allowed me to bridge the contacts and mine powered up. It does seem to be an issue with this laptop as that panel is disproportionately expensive to replace for what it is. I am waiting for a scrapper to arrive sometime. Intermittent power problems can be difficult to resolve. Have you checked your memory? If you have 2 dimms then remove one at a time to check if either one is faulty.
