This question really belongs on a website for Coby rather than in an AARP question area despite where or how you purchased this notebook. I understand that Coby customer service is lacking but you can either send an email to Customer Care at [email protected] <[email protected]> or you can call them: 1-800-727-3592 during their business hours: Monday-Friday 9:00am-9:00pm EST and on Saturday from 9:00am-5:00pm EST
The hard drive in the NBPC1023 is 2.5" 9.5mm high, 5400rpm, SATA and is 160GB but can be upgraded to 500GB. That is the Serial-ATA hard drive you are seeking. You can find them at many places on the web. One thing to consider is that if you are replacing the hard drive, thing 250GB or higher. Keep in mind that the larger capacity hard drive is going to run about $100.00 and up but a general replacement for what you now have is about $80-$100.00 plus shipping & handling from most stores. You can order it online but might need a professional to install it.
