How To Disarm The Car Alarm Without The Remote?

Got the car in a divorce and the ex threw away the remote. Now for some unkown reason the car alarm just started going off. The keys don't work in the door (don't know why- just hasn't for awhile now) the key does work in the trunk lock. Now the car won't start and the alarm won't go off. Is there anything I can do on my own to fix this that won't cost a lot of money? Please help, Jennifer (Pool) Roland
