2010 Chevrolet Equinox Lt (4.2) Oil Filter Location

I read the link listed in your questions about where the oil filter is located but it does not say precisely where the filter is.  This 2010 Equinox does not use the old standard oil filter that screws into the underside of the motor.  This new type of filter fits into some type of cannister and I do not know where it is located.  Can I access it from under the hood or do I need to look for it underneath the motor?  Thanks
