2004 Starting Problems

I have a 2004 Corvette 2dr Convertable, LS 1 engine. I am having a n intermittent starting issue. When you go to start the engine by simply turning on the ignition switch the engine starts and runs for a couple of seconds and then dies. The only way it stays running is pushng on the exceleration pedal for a second before trying to start. It does not happen all of the time but it makes no difference wheher it is cold or hot when you try.
