Sewing Machine Started Sewing Backwards On Anything Other Then A Straight Stitch

My brother just today started to sew backwards on the programmed stitches. The only stitch that works proper is the straight stitch.  Even the botton hole function is not feeding right. Help! I just finished sewing some flannel noting to heavy so I don't know what happened. i can't even sew any letters it goes backwards.
