My Brother Printer Not Printing Properly

My Brothers printer has been without ink for a very long time. I bought brand new inks for all colors, i cleaned all the colours, now i am trying to print and it will not print the black or red colours, and the printer is telling me that i am running low on red ink, and i just bought the red ink and it is not printing any red.....HELP!
