How To Applique Design From Usb

I downloaded a design to applique to my thumb drive. I put it in the pe770, the design was retreived & the outline to cut out was stitched. What next? The directions in the manual only work for built-in applique. How do I get to the next step---outlining for placement then satin stitching over that.
