Brother Mfc-9970cdw Laser Printer Will Not Scan

I was able to scan last week - now, whenever I hit Scan, it says check connection. We already tried this last week. I can print wirelessly and I can fax wirelessly/copy from the same computer/printer. It is only the scanner that is being difficult. PLEASE send me an answer ASAP. Not being able to scan is putting a large damper on our work day. Thanks.
