How To Prevent A Brother Printer Entering The Sleep Mode

The correct answer is NOT how to edit the amount of time before entering sleep mode.
The correct answer is also NOT what buttons to push on the printer to wake it from sleep mode -every time you need to wake it. (My printer does NOT wake up when print jobs are sent if it is in "deep sleep".)
The question is: How do i get this gosh darn crazy thing to NEVER EVER EVER go into any kind of sleep mode? As in: I HATE this annoying feature and want to permannetly disable it.
Sadly, the correct answer seems to be you can't. Now the new question: When i return this annoying ill-conceived product, how do i verify the next printer won't have the same "by design" defect BEFORE I buy it?
