Soap Dispenser Will Not Latch When Trying To Close It.

The soap dispenser cover will not latch when I try to close it. I moves forward to the proper close position, but snaps open as soon as I release it. I am concerned that the soap is not being dispensed at the proper time during the wash cycle.
