My Samsung Galaxy S 2 Wont Connect To The Internet?

A buddy of mine just sold me his Galaxy-S 2, I had a Prevail. But before he did, he did a total reset of the phone to erase all his data. I called and had the phone switched over and ativated, but all it will do now is make and receive calls and text. I cant get it to connect to the internet, email, nothing? Are my settings messed up because of the reset?
