The most common causes of a non-responsive keyboard are as follows:
1. Not properly hooked/connected to the computer box
2. Computer frozen (for hardware or software issue)
3. Keyboard failing technically
Not common for it to lock... or be locked - yes non of the Num-Lock, Scroll-Lock or Caps Lock refers to a virtually locked keyboard.
