In order to upgrade to windows 8, when you upgrade and it ask you what to keep, select the first bullet so all the drivers will still be current.

Based on my online research, the Windows 8 driver software for your Asus Z53 laptop is not available for download from ASUS website. The available driver software is only compatible with Windows XP. Your Asus Z53E may not be compatible with Windows 8. Here's the link to the download page:
