Changing A Passengers Seat?

I traveled from Florida to Portland Or. in July 2010. I had confirmed seats as of 05/12/2010. When I went to check in at JAX they had moved my seats to the back of the plane on the whole trip. I was in mid section before. I am claustophice and have asthma. I had a miserable trip. It was the same thing on the way back. Flight checkin said they had the right to change my seat. I would not have flown on this airline if I had known I would be sittting in the back acroos from flight attendants booth and bathrooms. How can they get away with this?
