Dryer Will Not Start

last night I started the dryer and went to bed, upon waking the clothes were still wet and it appears the dryer stopped working in the middle of the cycle around the 40 minutes mark. I tried restarting a new cycle but now the dryer is completely dead and will not function on any cycle etc. I have already checked electricity in this room and have confirmed that all wires are intact and connected still. Can you give me ideas on what needs repaired or is this something that requires a new dryer all together
