I would suggest that it is overheating. This is usually caused by dust and fluff building up in the fan on the heatsink of the processor.

If you are not confident to open up the computer and clean things up, I would suggest asking the local pc shop to clean it.

If you feel you could try yourself, then you are best advised to use an aerosol of compressed air (about £6 from a pc store) like this

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0021Y6IAY/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_3?pf_rd_p=103612307&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B000FFJJUM&pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_r=01TDGPVP2PYR6X4YD90N

UNPLUG ALL LEADS/CONNECTIONS, AND ALLOW PC TO COOL DOWN BEFORE USING THE AEROSOL- OTHERWISE MOISTURE CAN BE CAUSED AS THE COLD AIR CONDENSES ON THE PC PARTS. MOISTURE CAN DAMAGE THE PC.I USUALLY GIVE IT HALF AN HOUR WITH THE SIDE OFF BEFORE I START USING THE AEROSOL. HOLD THE AEROSOL A FEW INCHES AWAY- NOT TOUCHING THE PC PARTS.

1/ Make sure the Pc is switched off, at the mains, then press the start button, and it will run for a few seconds- this drains the pc.

2/ If you can get hold of a pair of thin surgical gloves, then put them on before you start to reduce the possibility of static electric discharge from you to the pc parts.

3/ remove the screws from the side of the computer to take one side off.

4/ YOU WILL SEE A FAN STRAIGHT IN FRONT PROBABLY IN THE MIDDLE, or upper part  OF THE PC, This is the main one to blow out the dust and fluff.
