Touch Pad Disabled

I have managed to disable the touch pad on my laptop and cannot find where to enable it again.  I have unchecked the box  'disable when external mouse plugged in' and restarted the machine.  This has not helped.  Please tell me how I can enable the touch pad again.

The touchpad driver for your Acer Aspire V3-731 laptop might be suddenly corrupted or malfunctioned. This usually happens because of malicious sofware/program. To resolve this issue, please reisntall the driver software for touchpad. I have provided the download  links for the touchpad.
