Dc Power
i tested the dc port on the laptop and it had a short so i changed it but no power from the charger is still reaching the laptop. the laptop still powers on with power from the battery. am thinking there could possibly be something wrong on the motherboard. i was wondering if there anything that can be done to repair it without replacing the motherboard or what specific component would be affected that would cause this. is there like a fuse or something of the sort that would be open..

Based on your stated problem, I believe that the main problem is a failed charger/power adapter. I suggest that you replace the charger/power adapter of your Acer Aspire 5253 computer. You can buy affordable chargers at Amazon.com. I have provided the product links below.
