Is Avg Blocking My Ability To Connect New Devises To My Pc?

I bought a new Apple ipod nano and am unable to connect the new devise. I have been working with the Apple technicians, who have cumulatively spent more than 5 hours trying to connect my devise to iTunes. After going through many different strategies, they are thinking my anti-virus program may be causing this problem. For years I have been able to attach my thumb drive and now cannot do it, also having gone through numerous procedures. Many are now thinking it is the AVG. Help. Thank you so much.
