Battery or Hard drive replacement
I have not had any problems with theToshiba Satellite L55-A5200 laptop, since I purchased the unit in November 2013. My only complaint is associated with not being able to easily replace if necessary, the internal 4 cell Li-Ion battery, or the internal 1TB hard drive. Toshiba indicates these components are considered not replaceable. I am assuming Toshiba wants you to take the laptop to a service facility for replacement of those parts, because the way it was designed the laptop has to be disassembled to have access to the battery and hard drive. The
users manual provided does not give any information on how to disassemble the laptop in order to perform the replacement process. All my other earlier laptops, were designed for the
user to easily replace these parts by removing plastic covers held in place by
a small screw, allowing removal and installation of the battery and hard drive. Eventually the battery and hard drive will fail and have to be replace. Replacement cost for parts and labor will be very high if it is not accomplished by the owner.
