How Can I Get My Computer To Recognize That I've Put In A Cd?
It worked one week but not the next. I need to be able to get this fixed because I use the cd's to back up my computer files.
I tried contacting e-machines about it but they were going to charge me to help me. Norton Security referred me to the maker which is e-machines.

We really need to know what version of Windows you use, the settings are differetn between them.
The auto detect is strictly a convenience, nothing more. The CD will be available even if the PC doesnt state that it found it.
Check this...
- Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click System.
- Double-click the CDROM branch on the Device Manager tab, and then double-click the entry for your CD-ROM drive.
- On the Settings tab, make sure the Auto Insert Notification check box has a check mark in it to enable auto detect.
- Click OK, click Close, and then click Yes when you are prompted to restart your computer.
