Repair Or Buy A New Machine?

Re: Whirlpool Washer WTW4950XW0 - What year was this model made? I inherited it when I moved to my new address. It worked well for the first 7 months in this house. Now, the cycles do not work properly. I know water is being cycled out of it through a rinse because I see the water collected in a bucket that is sitting in my utility tub. However, I do not hear the water coming in at the first cycle as I did when I first used it. I'd like to have it repaired, but a handyman said that it would probably be better to buy a new one since the cost of a repair will be around $250.

I can't tell you whether to repair your machine or buy a new one, as you must make that judgment, and your question suggests that its real purpose relates to the age of your machine.

With the machine's serial number you should be able to discern the age at http://www.needapplianceparts.com/applianceserialnumberbreakdown.aspx. That site will also help you find the serial number.
