Windows Xp Home Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 3 Compatibility
I am unable to access my WD 2TB hard-drive through my computer. I went through the device manager and the ops check came out ok, there is nothing wrong with the harddrive and is clearly communicating with my computer.
However, there is no icon displayed allowing me to open the WD so that I can transfer files to it from my Laptop which is a tiny netbook running off windows XP home edition version 2002 service pack 3.

The WD Model: WDBACW0020HBK-NESN comes formatted with NTFS(file System) by default. Your will have to check the file system in windows to determine if it is NTFS or FAT 32. You can check this by navigating to control panel/Performance and Maintenance, click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Computer Management and then choose Disk Management. In your case you may have to reformat the hard disk drive to FAT 32 and then check. You can use the software that comes with the WD hard disk drive.
Click on the link below for more information on how to format the HDD to FAT32 using the software provided by Western Digital, you will have to choose windows as the Operating System,
