Model I6789: If I Unplug The Phone & Replug It Back, Will My Messages Disappear?

Our phone is not working.  The message on each of the 4 handsets says "connecting" and also "charging".  The handsets are usually on their bases & charged.  We cannot make or receive calls on these handsets, but are able to use our wall phones.  The main base rings and the answering machine works.  Online it said to unplug the main base from the phone jack & also the electrical plug. If I do this, my question is will my incoming recorded messages be lost?  I do not want to lose any one of them!  My model is i6789 and I know it is out of warranty.  I tried calling the 800-595-9511 number, but the recording  just kept saying my phone is out of warranty & would not let me talk to a person.  I even tried pushing the "0", but again I could not talk to anyone.  I would appreciate your answering my question regarding losing the incoming messages, as well as any advice you can give me to help getting our V-tech phones to work.  Thank you--Donna
