I Have A Vipr161rss Controller And Power Supply Cord That Need To Be Replaced.

Only 2 buttons work on it I can raise it and lower it and fan kicks in but the other buttons don't do anything and found a lot of corrosion in the connection of the power supply cord to the controller. The controller is discontinued are their other compatible controllers? or am I going to have to get a new Downdraft? Image is from after trying to scrap it clean.

If I'm not mistaken, these are the same as the Dacor range vents. If thats the case, we have seen a LOT of bad control boards on these, but I can't say I've ever had one with quite the symptoms you are describing. You may just need to reset the filter timer, as that light comes on every 40 hours of use I belive. But I think you said you have already done that. If you have cleared the light per the instructions and it just keeps coming back on, then you probably do have a bad control board. That should be located on the lower right of the unit behind a small square acces hole, if its like the model I am familiar with. They arent too hard to change, just make a diagram of all the wires before you pull em off and make sure to turn of the power first. One more thing, if the filter light doesnt come on after you reset it, try taking the blower motor box of the front of the unit and checking the 3 prong connector between the fan and the vent and make sure it hasn't come undone or that one of the terminals hasnt backed out of the connector, causing a poor contact. Good Luck!
