Help With A Uniden Guardian G766 System

Since my current computer does not have a port in which to insert the SD card, can I bypass the firmware update for my G766 Guardian? In the past I only used the system to monitor my home hot water heater for leaks with the second camera for the house temperature, when we left the home for some period of time. The recording aspect of the system was not that important as long as I could monitor the cameras when we were not at home. The last time the system was used successfully was a few years ago before I got a new cell phone. What are my chances of making this G766 system work? Or is there a simple & reliable two or three camera system with just current monitoring from the cell phone? No other bells or whistles are needed.
